Back to business and back to baking cakes – woohoo!!
April 30, 2017
After a few months away from business the Hours of Fun kitchen is now back open and raring to go. My husband and I have moved house and we are super lucky to now have an amazingly massive kitchen diner which is perfect for cake baking and decorating. With the kitchen back open it is back to blogging and sharing pictures of bakes and cakes. We have a lot to catch up on so here goes…
Being based in Liverpool means you get asked to make quite a few football themed cakes. This cake was for a special birthday boy turning 10. Chocolate sponge cake with chocolate buttercream filling.
Spooky birthday cake for my best friend’s birthday
Every year I make a cake out of ’50 easy party cakes’ by Debbie Brown for Lorraine’s birthday, however I am not running out of cakes to choose that I can link to the birthday girl and now have to just pick out a cake a fancy making! This spooky tower looked fab and tempted me in with it’s cute ghosts and spooky eyes that remind me to the children’s programme Trap Door.
It was made from 4″ round cakes stacked on top of each other. I made a few changes to the design by adding the ivy and roses.
Birthday cake for a bingo lover. Vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream and jam filling.
I was asked to do a pretty birthday cake covered in lots of flowers in bright colours. Flowers are one of mu favourite things to make and it had been a while since I had last made any. I really enjoyed making this cake. It was made from a 10″ vanilla sponge cake with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream filling.
